2nd MEETING
February 13-15, 2018, Nicosia - Cyprus
The Water Board of Nicosia (WBN) partner of WATenERgy CYCLE project with the cooperation of the Lead Partner – Municipal Water and Sewerage Company of Larissa organized, the 2nd project and steering committee meeting that took place in Nicosia, Cyprus, on 13 – 15 February 2018, at the headquarters of WBN (http://www.wbn.org.cy).
All project partners participated in this meeting in order to discuss about the progress of the activities included in the initial implementation plan.
During this meeting, assoc. Professor Vasilis Kanakoudis coordinated the involvement of specialized scientists highlighting the water balance from theory to practice, the benefits of mathematical modelling for water & energy efficiency in water distribution networks aiming in the redefinition of the way people treat water.
Mr Oliver Loebel, the Secretary General of the European Federation of National Associations of Water Services (EurEau, www.eureau.org), also attended the meeting. His participation contributed to the establishment of the institutional framework that will allow the formulation of the project’s communication strategy’s main components, namely the objectives, the goals, the targeted audiences, the messages and the expected impact. EurEau will disseminate the project’s results to its members (28 EU and EFTA countries) & to EU accession countries and promote the common interests of the European water service sector to the EU institutions and stakeholders, enabling its members to adequately deal with opportunities and threats arising from EU policies and their national implementation. During the 2nd project meeting, EurEau contributed to the preparation of policy recommendation, informing senior decision-makers about water-energy efficient management tools, methodologies and innovative technologies, in order to increase the level of adaptation to resources efficiency and climate change resilience measures in alignment with EU policies.
Following the 2nd project meeting, on 15 February a technical visit in the Water Board of Nicosia (WBN) facilities also took place.
